The book I read was “Brian’s Hunt” by Gary Paulsen. This book's genre falls in the category of realistic fiction. The story takes place in the modern times Canadian wilderness during summer. The main characters are Brian, a boy who was trapped in the wilderness, and an unnamed dog who was wounded after running away from a trapping camp. Brian helps the dog and the dog, in turn, helps Brian in many ways. I would say this story in the series deserves a score of five.

The genre of the book is realistic fiction. I know this because the characters like Brian are not real people. I also know this because the story includes things such as seasons, bears, and dogs. A final reason I know this is because the story does not have fairies or goblins. That is the genre of the book and how I know it is realistic fiction.

My favorite character is Brian. In this story Brian is really the only character who does something so I only have one choice. But I like Brian because he is not stupid like most people and he learns and adapts to changes nature throws at him. A second reason I like him is that he understands nature’s law and how humans and their fancy high tech auto reeling fishing rods and chainsaws make nature confusing and odd since it disturbs the natural order.

Gary Paulsen the author of The Hatchet series does an amazing job at helping the reader visualize the things brian is witnessing. I remember one scene where the author describes wolves eating a young dear alive and it made me grimace. Most books don't do such a fantastic job describing things and making you imagine the feelings and emotions of the characters and animals. The setting of the story is somewhere in the canadian wilderness around summer. This affects the plot because Brian hunts and fishes in nature and there are real threats. If the setting were in a big city there would be no danger which would massively affect the plot.

I would recommend this book to my friend Dane. He loves the outdoors and nature stuff. I Think he would like it because of the author's ability to describe things so vividly that it makes you think you were there. Another reason he would like the book is because he likes survival related things. My reason for scoring this book a five is because it is the best one in the series. “The Hatchet” sets the base story. “Brian's Winter” shows the reader how in order to survive Brian needs to adapt to the scenario. “The River” shows the unpredictability of nature and how one will need to adjust or adapt to these unpredictable changes. “Brian's Return” shows the beauty and wonder of nature and how it is where man originated from. And finally, “Brian's Hunt” shows the most important aspect of nature, the horror, the pain, and the sadness. Unless he accepts nature's law, Brian will not survive.

This book Brian’s Hunt by Gary Paulsen is a novel, and an adventure fiction. The main characters are Brian, and his family. That includes his mother and his father. The story takes place in the northern Canadian wilderness. Yet I will give it a five out of five.

The genre of the book is adventure fiction. This book is for youth and young adults. This book is not non-fiction because this is not a true story. However it was based on Pulsens experiences. The setting takes place in the Canadian wilderness, and with that it tells us that it is not fully fiction. It has real people and true things about our world, and again that too tells us that this story is not fully fiction.

My favorite main character is Brian. He is the only main character so what choice do I have? Brian is very brave, and a curauges. He does everything he can to survive in the wilderness. Plus he has an opponent that he is trying to deal with.He learns quickly from mistakes and does it right the second time.

The setting of the book takes place in the northern Canadian wilderness. It is taken place by a L shaped lake, and by a big rock. However he moves to other places on his canoe. But the main part of the story is by Suzanne's relatives' cabin. By the cabin there is another lake that he came on.

I would recommend reading this book if you like adventure, mystery, hunting, and victories. I would recommend this book to a person that likes hunting because it is kinda about hunting. I scored it a five out of five because this book concludes all of the other books that Gary Paulsen wrote from the first book Hatchet. Start reading the series and finish with this amazing book. So just start reading it.
