The book Lives of the Pirates by Kathleen Krull & Kathryn Hewitt is a very interesting book about the lives of many Pirates, even the made-up pirate Long John Silver. This book is a biography. There are no main characters, but some would be Blackbeard, a person whose victims would surrender at the sight of him, Alvilda the young princess of the Goths, and Henry Morgan a governor of Jamaica. Governor of Jamaica after he was a pirate. The story does not have one specific setting, but all over the Earth’s seas. I would score this book 5/5.
This book's genre is biography like I said before, and also Juvenile literature. It is a biography because it tells me the stories of other people's lives, what they do in them, and what they are most famous for. One other thing that tells me that it is a biography is that 99% of the people there were actual people on planet Earth. That 1% is, one pirate named Long John Silver, who is a made-up fictional character. I’ll talk about Long John Silver later.
One of my favorite characters was Long John Silver. Even though he was not a real pirate, he was still my favorite. He was made up by a sick and gentle writer named Robert Louis Stevenson. An idea about a pirate came to him when he was spending time with his stepson. His stepson was creating a map of a fictional island and that’s when the idea of a new pirate came to the mind of the gentle writer. He created the pirate with a big red beard, a crutch, astoundingly clever, and a laugh that sounded like music.
There is no one set. There are settings all over the world, from Jamaica to America. The time periods were from the mid-400s to the late 1800s. And it might have taken place from a distant island or from a sinking ship. All the locations were great, but my favorite would take place on a treasured island, in the middle of the sea with my favorite pirate, and his crew.
I recommend this book to anyone who likes to read about pirates and their achievements. I would also recommend it to people who like to read biographies. However, this biography is not dull like some. I scored 5/5 at the beginning of the essay because this book never got boring. It would always have interesting facts about the pirates, and it never repeated the same thing. The book is amazing, that’s why you should read it.

The book I read was Lives of the Pirates by Kathleen Krull. The book is about the different kinds of pirates and their lives. This book has a lot of characters, like the pirates and it takes place in the 1800’s through the 1900’s. I would personally rate this book at a 5/5 because the book was always entertaining and I learned a lot about the pirates. This book is an entertaining book that I would recommend.
The genre of this book is biography. The reason I know this is because it talks about a known person and their life. For example, it talks about the pirates, the Barbarossa Brothers and their lives. It also talks about how the pirates lived after pirating. The genre of Lives of the Pirates is biography and that’s how I know.
The book was written by Kathleen Krull. Kathleen Krull majored in English literature. She graduated from Lawrence University in Appleton Wisconsin in 1974. She started writing her first book, The Road to Oz: Twists, Turns, Bumps, and Triumphs in the Life of L. Frank Baum, right after she graduated from college. She wrote the Lives of the Pirates in 2013.
This book takes place in a number of different places. It takes place somewhere in between the 1800’s and the 1900’s. I don’t know exactly where it took place, but it mainly took place in Europe and the Caribbean areas. This is to be expected though. That is the setting of the Lives of the Pirates.
The book I read was Lives of the Pirates by Kathleen Krull. I would recommend this book to people who love history and pirates. The reason why is because this book is a history book about pirates. I scored this book at a 5/5 because it was never confusing and always entertaining. That is what I thought about the book Lives of the Pirates.

In the book I am reading it has 19 chapters, they are about pirates in the olden days. The genre of my book is nonfiction. The main characters are Alvilda, the barbarossa brothers, M. Killigrew, G. O’Malley, F. Drake, C. Kidd, W. Dampier, Blackbeard, Black Bart, M. Read, A. Bonny, S. Bonnet, S. Bellamy, C. Angria, R. Wall, Cheng, J. Laffite, B. D. Soto, and L. J. Silver are the main characters. The setting of the story is all around the world where these people are from. My score was 90% and I would rate this book a 4 out of 5 because this book just had a lot of facts to remember.
The genre of this book is nonfiction because this book was about famous people who were pirates in their time. I know that this book is nonfiction because it doesn’t have fairies or any fictional characters. This book has facts about famous people and doesn’t have made up places that they live in. The book tells about what these special pirates' lives were. There aren’t made up creatures, dragons, or any fictional character that a fiction book would have.
My favorite “aha moment” was in chapter 11, with the Pirates Mary Read and Anne Bonny. If their time on men could be pirates, but they broke those rules and dressed like me to become pirates. I learned that certain people could be pirates, you couldn’t just become a pirate freely. You had to be a man and you had to meet the requirements. Women could also not dress up in men’s clothing.
The setting of the book was all around the world. The places that it mentioned the most were in Spain, England, Britain, and in the U.S.A the most. Pirates would live all around the world in this book, and they would also be at sea for multiple years at a time. The time period of this book was from the mid 400s to 1883. The author gave a lot of vivid descriptions of what battles, homes, and countries looked like in this book. The settings affect the plot because it is in a lot of different places in different chapters.
I would recommend this book to people who like learning about pirates. Also I would recommend this book to people who like adventures. This book talks about pirates and all the adventures they go on, that is why I would recommend this book to those certain people. I think I scored a 90% because this book had a lot of short chapters and a lot of vivid details just about each individual person.

This book is a good book for people who like pirates and thievery. If you want to know Blackbeard’s real name it is in this book. Like if you wanted to know which pirate stole the most loot? Which pirate was let go by Queen Elizabeth I? Which pirate was most famous?
Blackbeard’s real name is Edward Teach and Blackbeard was one of the most notorious pirates in the world. He was most known for his beard which he tied lit matches into his hair. Then for stealing a boat from the royal navy and naming it Queen Anne’s Revenge. He lit his rum on fire and then drank it to seem more intimidating. Then Blackbeard felt like he should downsize his boat he ran Queen Anne’s Revenge into the ground and took a smaller ship.
The pirate who stole the most loot (booty) was named Black Sam Bellamy. He stole a boat full of rubies, ivory, gold dust, and a lot of money. He was immediately killed after that because of the biggest storm on record for their time frame. So he was the richest pirate when he died and no pirate ever beat the amount of loot he got. He also had one of the youngest pirate careers to ever die because the first thing he stole was the ship and it was the last thing.
The pirate let go by Queen Elizabeth I was named Grace O’Malley and she was let go. She was mainly a strong woman partially because she lied and said she was doing maintenance. So she kept doing “maintenance” and taking goods from boats. She lived longer than most pirates because the royal navy left her be and she left them be. She had one of the longest lives of all pirates but she did not end up stealing that much.
So in the end all the pirates who got lucky and got a lot of money ended up dying young. The ones that lived long did not get that much money. The ones who got a middle amount of money died a good mid-sized life. So in the end if you get a lot of money don’t get greedy. You can live a nice long life.
