What Would you do if you could travel to an alternate world? Well that's sorta what happens in this book. This book is about a girl named Dorothy and she lives in Kansas on a farm with her Uncle Henry and Aunt Em. Then one day she gets taken away by a tornado and gets taken to a magical place called The Wizard of OZ. Then she takes a trip to Emerald City where she can ask the great OZ to send her back home. This book is obviously fantasy. The main characters are Dorothy, Scarecrow, The Tin Woodman, The Cowardly Lion, and Toto. I would rate this book a 5.
The genre of this book is fantasy. So that means that it is a fiction book. One of the many reasons I know that this book is fiction is because you don’t just get swept away by a tornado and end up in an alternate world called the Wizard of OZ. Also I don’t think that in the real world there is a talking Scarecrow, a man made out of Tin, and a lion that is a scary cat. Even when Dorothy first ends up in the Wizard of OZ when she comes out of her house which is somehow not destroyed a witch comes from the sky in a bubble! So if you ask me I don’t think that this book is fiction.
I’d say that in this book Scarecrow is my favorite character. One reason he is my favorite character is because he does a lot of dumb stuff because he has hay as brains. But on the other hand he is really funny, like he asks Dorothy all these questions that are really simple and he should know them but he doesn’t have any brains. I also like that he cares so much about Dorothy. The Tin Woodman, Scarecrow, and Lion would all risk their lives to get Dorothy to Emerald City where the great OZ is.
There are two main settings in this book. They are Kansas and the Wizard of OZ world. There are also two settings that are a bit smaller like Emerald City and the Wicked Witch of the West’s castle. Then there is one setting which Dorothy is only in for a half of a page. It’s her house that she is in when the tornado sweeps her and the house up and takes her to the Wizard of OZ world.
I would recommend this book to anyone who likes magical worlds and adventure stories. One of the reasons I would recommend this book to people who like magical worlds and adventure stories is because Dorothy travels to the World of OZ. The other reason is because Dorothy goes on an adventure with the Tin Woodman, Scarecrow, and Lion to get to Emerald City to have the Great OZ grant them wishes. The reason I gave this book a five star rating is because I really enjoy the movie and the book. I think that the author of this book really kept interest in the story to want the reader to keep reading.
