The book I read was Amelia Earhart: Challenging the Skies. This book is about Amelia Earhart and her achievements as a female pilot. The genre of this book is biography. This book takes place in the years 1897-1937 and takes place all over the world. It also describes how Amelia Earhart disappeared without a trace in the year 1937.
Amelia Earhart was a pilot who had various achievements. One of which was that she was the first woman to cross the Atlantic Ocean. She was also the first person to travel over the Pacific Ocean alone, nobody had been able to accomplish this before her. She was the first woman to make a transcontinental journey in flight. She had also attempted to make a trip around the world, while traveling around on the equator.
The genre of this book is biography. The reason I know this is because the book explains what happened in Amelia Earhart’s life, but is not written from her point of view. It is written from the author's point of view, Susan Sloate. The author is writing from her perspective, meaning this is what she thinks about Amelia’s life. The book isn’t written by Amelia Earhart, therefore, it is a biography, and not an autobiography.
The book takes place throughout the years of 1897 and 1937. She was born on July 24, 1897 and went missing on July 2, 1937. She had made several first flights to Wales, Mexico, Honolulu, Ireland, Brazil, Senegal, Pakistan, and Australia. She was the first woman to fly from Canada to Northern Ireland, alone and non-stop. She attempted to make a solo trip around the world, traveling on the equator, but went missing on the last stretch of the expedition.
The book Amelia Earhart: Challenging the Skies, was about Amelia Earhart’s achievements in aviation. I would give this book a ⅘ and recommend it to people who are interested in history, mystery, and/or biographies. Amelia Earhart had made many remarkable flights in her time, even though she, unfortunately, never finished her last flight. She was born on July 24, 1897 and was presumed missing on July 2, 1937. Amelia Earhart was the most famous pilot of her time and she is greatly remembered.
