The book Deadly by Julie Chibbaro is about an outbreak of a fever called typhoid fever almost sweeping out the whole New York population. The genre of this book is historical fiction. The main character is a teenage girl named Prudence. Some of the other side characters are Marm, who is Prudence’s mom, Anushka, and George Soper. This story takes place in New York City, New York. For this book I would give it 3 stars.
The genre of this book is historical fiction. This book is realistic fiction. I know that this book is fiction because there is a teenage girl named Prudence who supposedly went through typhoid fever time but I don’t think that she was actually there. I think that the girl was made up and all the stuff that happened to her. I also know that the story is non-fiction because typhoid fever was a real thing and many people died from it.
In this book Prudence was my favorite character. She was my favorite character because she was adventurous. I think that she is adventurous because she tried to get a vaccine for typhoid fever. Prudence is also very smart and thinks things over before she does something. But on the other hand she is also a loner and doesn’t have very many friends in or outside of school.
The setting of this book was in New York City, New York. Also she lives in a crumbling old tenement building with her mother. There’s also the school that Prudence goes to called Ms. Browning School. There is also a brief moment when she talks about Virgina. And when her brother died in the Spanish American war.
I would recommend this book to any one who likes a good fiction story with a little bit of a plot twist. And to people who do like fiction books but also like some true statements in their story. The reason I would recommend this book to people who like a good fiction story and a little bit of trueness is because there is a real disease in the book called typhoid fever but mostly everything else is fiction. The reason I gave this book a 3 star rating is because I think that the story went kinda slow. And also to me it was kinda boring but also slightly interesting.
