The book I read was The Lump Of Coal. In the story a lump of coal sets out to be an amazing artist. He is turned away by everyone for different reasons. But the lump of coal does not give up. The genre is fantasy. The main characters are The lump of Coal, art gallery owner, korean restaurant owner, fake santa, and Jasper. I rate this story an eight out of ten.
The genre is fantasy. My reasoning for this assumption is that such things as walking and talking lumps of coal exist in the book. That is why this book is fantasy.
My favorite character was probably the lump of coal. My reasoning for preferring this character to the others is that I think the existence of a living piece of coal is funny. One way it is funny is how he rolls around to get from one place to another. One more reason is how he wants to make paintings of food. That is why the lump of coal is my favorite character.
The setting of the story is mid winter in a town around christmas. I am aware of this because of references to Christmas like a fake santa. I know it is winter and snowy because in the beginning of the book it tells you. The author did an excellent job writing details that helped me visualize the story as a movie in my head. That is the setting of the book and how I know.
I would recommend this book to most of my friends. My reasoning for that statement is that even though this book is not necessarily a thrilling book it made up for it with its complexity and its interesting story. In the introduction I scored it an eight out of ten because I liked the story and thought it was funny. it's not a ten out of ten because I wish it were longer. There are many questions that the book gives you but never answers. This makes the book seem like it was deliberately written to be confusing. But overall The Lump Of Coal was a great book and I would recommend it.

The Lump of Coal, by Lemony Snicket is a very easy book that you will find interesting. The genre of this book is fiction. The main character is the lump of coal, (he does not have a name…) This event takes place during the holiday season, in a time for storytelling. I would rate this book ⅘.
The genre of this book is fiction. It is a fiction novel because a lump of coal can’t walk and talk like a human. This book is also a children’s literature, humor and a Christmas story. This story can tell us about how we have problems in our lives and how easily they can be solved. See, sometimes you might think that it is a bad thing, but it turns out to be amazing.
My favorite character is the little lump of coal. One of the reasons why he is my favorite is because he is a coal artist and a Korean chief. One more thing that I like about this little character is that he believes in miracles. In this story you can learn that you should not judge by the small and dirty appearance. You should look on the inside and see what that person or thing can do.
This story takes place in a little town when Jolly old Saint Nick will come. This event takes place in the dead of winter, when the air is gray, and the sleet is everywhere. By seeing the pictures in the book you can tell that in this book, it is at least 1950. What tells me that it is about that period of time, is how they are dressed up. They wear suits and dresses that look like eggs, so it is a time far, but not so far from now.
I would recommend this book to my little brother who likes fiction. I would recommend this book to him because he would be able to read it, and understand it. I scored ⅘ in the introduction, because I think that for an age group like us would be to easy to read. Plus this little book is a bit dry. However this book may teach you something about a miracle. So if you need a little story to lift your little, darkened soul, you will love the ending.

So the book is about this lump of coal at Christmas time trying to be useful. The book is definitely fiction, what kind of fiction, I can’t tell. There is really only one character that you need to know before reading this book, the lump of coal, the lump of coal is a sentient living lump of coal with legs and arms and who wears all black, just for fun I’ll say there is a drug store Santa in the story. The setting is just a normal town. The book gets 5 stars from me.
The genre of the story I can’t really pin down but it is a type of fiction. One reason why it’s fiction is because, well, it’s about a living lump of coal, who loves art. “The story begins with a lump of coal, who for the sake of argument could think, talk, and move itself around.” That sentence from the book is more evidence, even more evidence is the pictures in the book, these pictures show a fully dressed lump of coal with arms, legs, and facial features. That is my evidence for why the book is fiction.
My favorite character in the book is the lump of coal. The reason why my favorite character is the lump of coal is because he just goes around trying to be useful. The lump of coal loves art and that helps me like them more because I like art. The fact that they are a lump of coal is another reason I like the character because that is something that I haven’t read anywhere else in a book. Those are the reasons why the lump of coal is my favorite character.
The setting of the book is an industrialized town. There are pictures in the book that help you understand the setting, on one page you could be in a backyard and then the next you could be at a small art gallery. The art gallery helps support the plot because, as stated previously, the lump of coal loves art so he goes there but then is rejected. There is also a “Korean restaurant” that doesn’t actually serve Korean food, the lump of coal goes there because they are a lump of coal and maybe they can cook the food, but the lump of coal is rejected again. That was the setting of the book and details about it.
I recommend this book to anyone who can read and knows what drugs are. I recommend it to those people because drugs are mentioned in it. It is also a nice lighthearted book. Another reason is it is short enough to read easily. The reason I scored it the way I did in the introduction is because it is a lighthearted, short, nice, Christmas book and I really like it.
