This book is about a boy named James and when he was little his parents died. So then he was forced to live with his Aunt Sponge and Aunt Spiker, they are really mean and abusive to James. Then he spilled some magic beans into the ground and then grew a giant peach on the peach tree which had never grown any peaches before. And the peach keeps growing and growing and growing and growing. The genre of this book is fantasy fiction. The main characters are James Henry Trotter, Aunt Sponge, Aunt Spiker, Old-Green-Grasshopper, Centipede, Miss Spider, Silkworm, Glow-worm, Earthworm, and Ladybird. I would give this book a 5 star rating, which is the highest value a book can go to.
The genre of this book is fantasy fiction. It’s definitely a fiction book because it has fiction in its name. Also I don’t think that a peach can get bigger than an airplane, it's just not possible. It's also a fiction book because there are the bugs that live inside of the peach and they are as big or even bigger than James Henry Trotter himself. Then Centipede cut the stem off of the tree and the peach with all the bugs and James inside of it just kept rolling until they landed in a peninsula where a lot of ships go missing. Then to get out of the ocean(cause they floated out to sea after getting out of the peninsula) they caught 504 seagulls to lift and carry them out of the water.
I would say that Centipede is my favorite character because he is funny and is always protective of his friends. One reason why he is my favorite character is because he thinks he has one hundred legs but in reality he only has 42. And he complains all the time about how long it takes to get his boots off because he has “100 legs.” Then when they floated of into the ocean James came up with the plan to use Earthworm as bait for the seagals and inside of the peach he was making sure that Miss Spider and Silkworm were making thread because he didn’t want to Earthworm or any of is friends to drown in the ocean. The only thing that I don't like about Centipede is that he can be very demanding and kinda mean.
In this book there are 4 main settings. The very first setting in the book is an old creepy house on a hill, in this house lives Aunt Sponge and Aunt Spiker. Then There is the garden which is also on the hill but this place is where the giant peach starts to grow. Then after the peach grows so big and he finds the bugs inside that are as big as him he becomes friends with them and the peach breaks loose off the stem and rolls off a cliff into the ocean. That is the 3rd main setting. Then the last main setting is the sky where James and the bugs meet the cloud people.
I would recommend this book to people who like funny moments, seriousness, surprising moments, and a little sadness. Why I would recommend this book is because it’s pretty funny when James finds the big giant insects in the peach and he thinks that they are going to eat him. It’s also sad because James’s parents died and then he had to live with his abusive aunts. A surprising moment in the book is when they meet the cloud people and they start to throw giant cloud balls at them. And the one serious moment was when the peach was flying through the air and Mrs. Spider went off the edge of the peach to see if there was any damage to the bottom of the peach. I gave this book a 5 star rating because I thought that this book was a really good book and I also love books written by Roald Dahl.
