The book I read was the “The Time Machine”. In the beginning a man claims he has a machine that can transport people through time. The people he informs of this unlikely claim do not believe him. However when the man brings a working much smaller replica of the machine and the scientists that at first did not believe him are in awe for they do not know how it was able to vanish because they saw no trick that was possible under the circumstances. A few weeks later the man shows up for dinner with the same scientists and is late. The man claims he traveled through time. The genre of this book is science fiction. I am aware of this because There are time machines and future humans evolving into two separate species. I rate this book a five out of five. I really enjoyed it and thought it was a very interesting concept of which the book is based upon.
As I said in the previous paragraph this story is science fiction. It cannot be fantasy because it lacks fairies and goblins and creatures like that. But it cannot be realistic fiction because it is not realistic or based on a real thing that has happened. So the book is science fiction because as I stated before it has time machines and creatures evolving into two or more separate species. Those are my thoughts on the genre of this book.
The characters of the book include the scientists that doubt the ability to time travel, The time traveler, Weena, one of the evolved humans that the time traveler saved. My favorite character is the time traveler. My reasoning for liking this character is because they are the only character we get any information about. Another reason is that there is always a sense of mystery when the story talks about him. That is my favorite character and why.
There are multiple settings of the story so I will briefly describe each one of them. The first setting is what I assume to be an office with a fireplace,in the modern day. The second setting is the time traveler’s laboratory at a dinner party that the time traveler is late to. The final setting is thousands of years in the future with an almost perfect Utopian society where humans evolve into two different species. One is a primate-like specimen and another one is a society of small childlike creatures. Those are the settings of the story.
I would recommend reading this book. I do not know who would like this book because it is fairly hard to understand but it has a good premise. I rated this book a five out of five in the beginning because it is a good book that had a fun story and an interesting concept. The author used very descriptive words which better helped me understand the story. That is why I rated the book a five out of five.
