The Last Apprentice (The Soul Stealer) is about a boy named Tom. Tom is an apprentice to the Spook. The Spook looks scary but can be kind and caring towards Tom. There are also two girls, Alice and Meg. Meg is a witch and Alice is a kind girl who likes Tom.

The genre of my book is horror but I think it should be a mystery too because it is pretty mysterious. My book is fiction. I know my book is fiction because there are witches (spell books, potions) also there is an “animal” called a boggart. A boggart basically cleans and cooks for the Spook. Also they are invisible.

My favourite character is Tom because he is kind and strong. He is strong because he has to go outside in the freezing cold just because the Spook said so. And he is kind because he respects the Spook even when the Spook is mean to him. I also like Tom because he is adventurous/daring. What I mean is he will try new things and try his best to meet the Spooks' high standards.

The setting of the book is at the Spooks “summer house”. The setting of this book was haunted and scary. Tom was scared of this house more in the winter but the summer was still pretty scary. He was most scared of the cellar though. The year that this book was published was 2008.

I would recommend this book to my mom. I would recommend it to her because she loved the first book in this series. My mom loved the first book because she likes horror and mystery, like me. And this book (The soul stealer) has horror and mystery in it.
